One of the biggest myth-conceptions about skincare routines is that men don’t need to use skincare products on a regular basis. Men need to protect their skin from sun-damage, dehydration, and ageing.

We all know that that all Men secretly use our partners skin care and leave them wondering why their $70 special eye cream is only lasting half the recommended time. So it’s time to pony up boys!!! Buy your own, skin is skin and if you are female or male nothing is different when we talk skin.

Men do not require different skincare products to women.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of skincare products formulated specifically for men. Remember “skin is skin”. Individuals have different concerns that require individual approaches to skincare. But, these differences cannot simply be divided down gender lines.

The growth of the male personal care industry has sky rocketed and is fast catching up to the annual dollars spend on personal care as our female partners……well the amount we know they spend which doesn’t include that sneaky credit card still in their maiden name that we don’t see!! It’s on common sense that companies are putting out skincare lines targeted specifically to this audience. However, the only difference between these products and other skincare lines is the fragrance and the look of the bottles.

Of course men might have different skin types, so they need to use different formulations depending on their lifestyle (if they are working outside, have oily skin, tougher skin and pigmentation) but that is no different to Females in what formulations will actually improve the skin.

In a nut shell, men and women can use the same products on their skin, if it’s suitable to their specific skin needs. Gender specific products are more around the industry making money, than what the skin truly needs.

So end the ongoing bathroom battle and choose a brand that suits both you and your partner. Don’t double up on the same active ingredient packaged in a different bottle. At the end of the day a Vitamin C product will be the same if it’s in black packaging or pink packaging.
